A Bathroom To Hide Away In

At the end of the day what do we want most? You got it! A nice long, relaxing bath.
Do we get it? No, and why not?
Because we have to climb over a mountain of clothes and have to share the tub with a rubber duck.

Well, no more.

It is now time to make the bathroom your own little hideaway where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Here are some great tips to help you do just that.

Create the right lighting.

Lighting makes all the difference, creating warmth and a calming atmosphere.
You could invest in a dimmer switch so you can change the settings to the right effect for your mood.
Venetian blinds give you another batch of "settings."

But really....you
should think
"candles."

Big self-standing candles can sit on the sink stand.
Candlesticks can be had to please every eye.
Surround the tub with tea lights.
Perhaps an oil lamp will put you in the last century.
Light incense sticks and fill the air with soothing scents.

Dive in
Fill the bath with some scented bubble bath and let yourself get lost in the bubbles. For aching muscles and head try herbal bath salts.
Fill your bath with fresh rose petals and drift away to anywhere.

The beauty treatment

Here's the perfect time and place to treat you skin to an all over body pampering. Slap on a face mask, place cucumbers or cold tea bags over your eyes, put a tape on, lie back and let your skin soak it up.
Exfoliate while you are in the bath and when you get out rub in an all over body moisturizer

Fill the
room

Surround yourself with all your favorite things...photos and pictures, antiques or mundane objects imbued with your own memories. Something from your childhood, your college, your future.....

Photos of favorite destinations....of you and your other half cuddling on a day out .... scenes you can lose yourself in.

Keep a fish tank in the bathroom; watching them is hypnotically peaceful.

Bring in a radio or CD or tape player and program a mood. Have a romantic love story in hand or on the player. Or, sure, if you prefer, an engaging back issue of The Bulletin Of the Atomic Scientists. "Chaq'un a son gôut" --- which reminds one of a glass of wine. And some chocolates. And a slave to feed them to you, if you can arrange for one.
